Rinshiba is a 12th-grade Humanities student from Nilambur with a great passion for volunteering. These lockdown days gave her a chance to explore more about the essential community development, and she could seize many opportunities to encourage herself. She is also an active NSS volunteer in her school who can fulfill the skills in leadership quality, empathy and critical thinking. And she is always concerned about the issues in her society and most importantly the issues that the environment is currently facing. As a social volunteer or more than that as a human being, she believes that we are responsible for solving these issues. Her project 'THE BLUE BELT' is about the conservation of rivers from pollution.
Our water resources in Kerala are polluted with wastes and chemicals. Many volunteering groups try their level best to solve this problem. But....nothing good happened. So we need a permanent solution for this issue. Implementing a scientific method to solve pollution in water resources and create a better place for all living beings. And another thing is, now Kerala facing floods every year. We can identify the floods by tracking rain in the river catchment areas. Measurement of rain will help us to identify if there is a chance for flood or not. So we also set rain gauges near the rivers to help us to identify flash floods.
Cleaning the rivers and other resources scientifically.
Adding more beauty in river banks for making it a more attractive place.
Plastic bottles from rivers can be used for making a tunnel as a message for the public don't dump plastics in rivers. (Indonesian model)
Other plastic materials can be used for making bags, pouches, and other materials and can conduct fests.
Did you see the picture of the garbage we dumped flowing in the Bharathapuzha?
This made me think more and more about this issue. We need a permanent solution!!! This all wastes will flow into the sea and this badly causes the damage of living organisms in sea.
