Athul Suresh - Selected for National Volunteers Hackathon 2021

Athul suresh is a student of Vidya engineering College, Thrissur aspiring to do something for his society. With some perspective gained from his volunteering experience in NSS, he wishes to bring the people together to act against certain flaws in the society.

SOCIAL ISSUE

  • Waste dumbing by road sides/water bodies. Lots of plastic bags floating on fields and heaped on the road sides or secluded places.

  • Leaking water pipes and the water gushing down the roads are a regular sight when driving. Eventhough people want to help, they don't due to the hassle of communication and due to bystander effect. I wish to streamline this communication between people and the authority.

PROPOSED SOLUTION

A social app that acts on small community levels (eg:-Village), which incentivise(with goodies/awards) the people to take initiative for proper waste management using a point and rank system. The app also act as a means of streamline the communication among people of that community and with authority figures and a support to local businesses of the community.

CONCERN

Even though collection and segregation of waste is important, Kerala does not have a proper waste management system that can accommodate the waste and recycle them. This poses a challange!
